If you want to become a cop, you’re going to have to take (and pass) the police exam.
While there are many different types of exams given by law enforcement agencies, most of the exams are very similar. So fortunately, you have the ability to prepare for this important test ahead of time.
A format common to many different police exams is to cover a few basic areas:
- Spelling and Grammar
- Reading Comprehension
- Writing Ability
The first three of these are tested through typical multiple choice and true/false questions. Writing ability is usually determined by the agency requiring you to complete a short essay answering one or two questions. Don’t worry, you need no previous police experience to pass this test.
If you do not score well, you’re not going to be allowed to continue in the hiring process. So it’s incredibly important that you study and prepare ahead of time. Call the agency and find out if they offer a sample test that you can use as a guide.
